Church Background
St Dunstan's is an Anglican (Church of England) church in Cranbrook in the beautiful Weald of Kent. St Dunstan's is part of the Diocese of Canterbury in the Weald Deanery.
St Dunstan's has been nicknamed "The Cathedral of the Weald" on account of its magnificence and perhaps the central role Cranbrook has played in the past. There are a few remaining signs of the church's 12th Century heritage and the interested visitor will be able to trace the many changes and restorations that have allowed this building to retain its beauty whilst at the same time keeping pace with contemporary needs. The church
is the venue for a rich variety of worship and is also the venue for a very busy church calendar to mark important events in the Christian calendar such as Christmas and Easter and is frequently used for concerts.
Adjacent to St Dunstan's Church is the historic Church House which is a focal point for many church activities.
We are very fortunate to have a very active Friends of St Dunstan's society which aims to help with the upkeep of the church building and the promotion of education about its heritage.
The Friends raise funds through subscriptions from its members (see their
website on how to join) and also through concerts, quizzes and other functions. It recently ran a flower festival which attracted some 28 organisations from the town who contributed to the theme of 'Community' and it raised approximately £3,000 towards the church tower project.
