Website Help

We really want you to be able to enjoy this website at its best, we have therefore designed the site to work with the most popular web browsers you are likely to use.

Technical issues
The site is best viewed at a resolution of 800x600 or 1024x768, though we have designed the site to scale to the size you are using.

We have tested the site on the following browsers:

If you have an older browser, especially Netscape versions earlier than 6.0, then you will need to upgrade your browser. Most browsers are free and we have provided links to the download sites above for your convenience, though the choice of browser we will leave to you!

Java. Due to a legal dispute beween Sun Microsystems and Microsoft, Microsoft have now withdrawn the Microsoft Java Runtime Engine from their distributions. If you update your computer the old MS JRE will have been removed and the new Sun JRE may not have been installed. A few sections of this site make use of Java, and therefore you may need to install the Sun JRE. This can be obtained from the Sun Microsystems web site via an automatic install.

We are unable to provide technical support for your computer, and the upgrades mentioned above are to be installed at your own risk. If you think there is a problem with the site, please use the feedback form and we will do our very best to resolve the issues as soon as possible.

Other points to note
Please note, that your session with our server is subject to a timeout, if you are logged into the site. The site will normally reconnect you, but you may need to login again.

Background information
This site is located on a new server with much greater capacity than was available on the old website which was dedicated to the Parish Magazine only. This new technology will allow us to develop the site into a real communication tool for the Church.

We have been very lucky to be able to join a new software development project, which is aimed at producing sophisticated communication websites for churches. This site uses a database to manage the information and the content is easily updated by a whole team of people without the use of special software. The software to create a site like this, has now been released through Source Forge and you will find details at www.communication.org.uk. We were the second main church to be using this software. We have joined the development team for this project.

The colour scheme on this site is based on traditional Church of England colours with some additions to accommodate a website.

For those that really want to know (they will know what this means), the site makes use of the following technologies Linux, PHP, mySQl, DHTML, XHTML, CSS and Java. Our thanks go to the developers of these excellent products.
